Accommodations on Aruba

Aruba has something for everyone, this is also true for the different places you can stay. If you're looking for luxury the high rise hotels are what you are looking for. The low rise hotels have a more homey feel and if you are looking for something less expensive or if you plan to stay for a longer period of time, the different apartments can provide you with a spacious and comfortable accommodation all year round. You can also look to rent a private property and these are available in all price classes.

Aruba's economy was dominated from 1925 by the oil refinery in San Nicolas. All other means to make a living were of minor importance or not found important at all. At first there were not enough people to work in the refinery and people from other country's were brought to work here. When the process of oil refining was automated the economy dropped and other means of making money had to be found. This happened in the late sixties, early seventies and this is when the government decided to put Aruba on the map as a big tourist island. The first hotels came and it became a great success. These days the tourist industry is the mayor economic source on the island.
