Most activities on Aruba take place on or in the water. There is a variety of watersports, some take just 15 minutes and others you can do all day.
The things that take just a little time are found on the different beaches in front of the hotels. There you will find the bananaboats, the tubes, the waterski's, the parasailing and a lot more of these things.

Jet ski & Water scooters

Everybody can do this, and it's great! You will have a wonderful time zipping around on a jet ski. This is available at most of the watersport operators on the beach. There are designated area's for jet skiing, so you will be taken to these places and brought back to the watersport operator where you were.

Parasailing

This is also available with most of the watersport operators on the beach. You will be able to see the island from yet an other angle: from the sky. You're towed along a speedboat and all you have to do is enjoy the view!

Windsurfing

Aruba has the perfect climate for windsurfing, the trade winds and lots of sea. Windsurfing is a combination of surfing and sailing and fun for everybody. With just a few instruction lessons you'll get the hang of it.

Kayaking

This sport is growing in popularity each year. One reason for this is that it is suitable for children 9 years and older and great for families. You will see the coast from different angles and you can stop to rest at the beach and than go on again.
Not only will you see the beaches, but also the the beautiful magrove forest and hidden caves. This is a great way to combine watersports with exploring the island.
 
Snorkeling

Snorkeling is usually done in shallow waters for the best view possible of the many tropical fish that are found in the waters of Aruba. For this, all you need is a diving mask and a breathing tube or snorkel. When you want to swim longer distances like this, you can use fins. These add some propulsion to your swimming.
If you go, for instance, to baby beach, you won't need fins. The fish here will come to you.
Apart from the tropical fish here you will see sponges and different kind of corals. Needless to say, you can not take these animals from the sea. Even touching them will cause a lot of damage and even death to these animals. The fish however, are a different story. If you take a piece of bread with you you will be swarmed by countless fish that are eating from your bread. It is a great experience. You can take an under-water camera with you and make beautiful pictures.

Scuba diving

One of the most unforgettable experiences you can have while visiting Aruba is scuba diving. You can see different corals, sponges, beautiful bright colored fishes and you may even come across a sea turtle and a seahorse. You can see stingrays hover above the seabed and when you slowly swim over the corals, you're bound to see moray eels or lobsters.
The south coast of the island is the lee side of the island and therefor has calm waters and the waves are not to strong.
Though the north side of the island is a lot rougher with stronger waves, this side is also spectacular.

Reef diving

The fact that even the experienced diver comes out of the water with new and interesting experiences makes reef diving the most popular type of diving. Each place you will go diving has its own unique animals and landscaping and every time you go
will be different from the last. You'll be able to see all kind of fish, corals, rockformations and shipwrecks, depending on the place you planned your dive.

Wreck diving

Wreck diving is the next most popular type of diving. Once you're down there and exploring the shipwreck you will also find many different fishes in and around the wreck because most wrecks provide them with a great abundance of food and a large
variety of marine vegetation in the area. And when you see the wreck you can let your imagination run free. Why did this ship sink? What kind of ship was it? And where would the captains cabin have been? If you like you get this information before you start your dive from your diving center.

A very popular wreck to go diving in Aruba is the Antillian shipwreck. This ship dates from the second world war and when you approach the wreck you can see part of the ship sticking out of the water. When you're in the water and approaching the ship you'll discover how big it really is.
Now there is so much marine life in and around the wreck that it is considered to be a man made reef.

Night diving

Night diving is also very popular in addition to reef diving. When you've seen a reef during a daytime dive, you won't believe the things you see during a night dive. The reef will look completely different at night. The beautiful things you'll see combined with the adventure of diving at night will make this an experience you'll never forget.

Wall diving

A wall means in diving terms a steep plunge of the seabed, going down for many meters. Many divers consider this the best way to go diving, because many fishes live and feed here off these walls. If you plan to make a wall dive (better, if you plan to
go diving), you might want to take an underwater camera with you. They are for sale for reasonable prices or you can rent one for the dive and take home great pictures to show your family and friends.
