Finding A Job On Aruba

Normally you would find a job first and then have your (future) employer take care of the paperwork, but how do you find a employer that wants to hire you? Here are some tips to get you going;

  • A good place to start are the local papers, you can buy these on almost any street corner or, if say you are not on Aruba, through the internet.
  • Also try making your search known to potential employers, put your request for work on a bulletin board, like the Arubaplaza.com forums. To much hassle? send us an contact form and we will put it on for you.
  • Another way might be to go to companies that operate in the areas you are looking to work in. Most companies offer the opportunity to fill out an application form.
  • Make sure that you bring copies of proof of education and a complete CV.
  • Also try to obtain letters of recommendation of former employers, regardless of in which country you worked.
Tip
  • Normally you are not allowed to work without an working permit.
    Some employers do not file an request for an permit for there employees in the first 6 months (most people leave within the first 6 months or don't leave for the next 10 years!). Make sure that always the taxes are paid and there is an request for a permit, don't start working without!
